Biking while PREGNANT!
Being a healthy expectant mother is your best goal and
cycling can be a part of your pre-natal exercise program. Talk
to your physician about the extent of your energy output.

Moderation is key, so best not be going into intensive training
or entering any marathons! While carbohydrates feed your
muscles for energy, there must also be enough for your baby’s
growth and development.
Remember the foetus is most vulnerable in the
fi rst trimester. Avoid over-heating by riding when
temperatures are coolest, avoiding mid-day heat. Drink lots of
H2O before ride and bring along lots of cold water and snacks.
Take frequent rest periods.
The most important message is to tune into your body’s
needs. If it doesn’t feel right, don’t do it! But even if you are
already in good athletic form and feeling great, maybe ease
up a bit to prevent foetal stress.
Mother Nature will let you know when it is time to park the
bicycle or when your belly reaches the handlebars!!!
